Harvest Thanksgiving and October Worship 2022

Our Harvest Thanksgiving Festival which runs throughout the month of October begins with our Harvest service at 11am on Sunday 2nd October. This will be followed by a congregational soup lunch in the cafe area – all are welcome.

We will then have school services in the church for Lawfield and Mayfield primaries as well as Newtongrange primary’s service in the school before the October break.

Listen here for the Minister’s Harvest message on Black Diamond Radio this week:

We also look forward to a joint service of thanksgiving with our friends from St Nicholas Buccleuch on Sunday the 9th October at Mayfield and Easthouses.

During the school October week we will have a special music day for some of our primary school children and also a special Kids Clothing Sale at our New2U Shop and Cafe on Wednesday the 19th October between 10am and 12noon.

We will then celebrate the sacrament of Communion on Sunday 30th October.

10 Days of Mourning for HM the Queen

We began the period of mourning as a nation on Friday the 9th September by being one of the churches across the land to ring out their bells at noon. This was followed by a short act of worship with a candle lit for the Queen. This candle will be lit every day in the church during the 10 days of national mourning. During this period, the services on Sunday the 11th and 18th of September in the church at 11am at Mayfield and Easthouses will include special prayers and reflections. The church is open for prayer and quiet contemplation every morning except Saturday the 17th September. The Church of Scotland website has regular contributions from the Moderator and others to guide our remembrance and thanksgiving for the life of the Queen.
