Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God: believe also in me.
John 14:1
So why bother with the church and what does the Christian faith have to offer to today’s complicated world?
A good question! We are part of an age in which many decry Scotland’s rich Christian heritage and challenge the presuppositions and relevance of faith. Although society has changed, people have not. We are still humans. We still have to wrestle with the age-old questions of value, purpose and meaning. We still have to deal with the difficulties and the joys and problems of human experience. We still have to face the fact of our mortality.
Whilst, we do not offer instant answers to complicated questions, what we do offer is the opportunity to explore faith and develop our spirituality. At the heart of our ethos and activities is the belief that the God who revealed himself in Jesus Christ can be known and encountered and that our spirituality can both significantly enrich our living and prepare us for eternity. In Jesus Christ, we are offered ‘life in all its fullness’ in this life and the life to come.
You cannot be a Christian on your own. To be a Christian means to have a special relationship with God and with other people. That relationship must be living and growing. So you need to be part of a Church if you are to grow as a Christian.
